Did not do a whole lot today other than find out where a few key places were.
Went to Target and found a new carry one suitcase, which was really nice. Considering they now charge $25.00 per checked bag at the airline, you can carry one one small bad and I also carry my laptop bag. So for the price of a new one I will not ever have to pay for checked bags. This will also be usefule as I have to pack up to go for 7 days up to Tuba City for my seven day work stretch. While I was at Target... it of course began to snow. I treated myself to a regular cup of Starbucks coffee. I have to say it is the first time I just got plain coffee but it was still a treat in itself. I have stuck hard to my diet and I am allowed one cup of hot tea or coffee per day!
After leaving Target we found the post office so I could buy some postcard stamps and you would not believe the line! It was like going to the Main post office in Columbia with only 2 checkout counters! So need less to say I used the vending machine and paid for a book of regular stamps and will just mail postcards with that. I would not stand in that line if I did not have too and paying a few cents more to mail a postcard will not hurt me.
I then ventured through the car navigation and found the local library. So off to there we go. I filled out an application for a temporary resident library card and what you do is fill it out and they take a copy of your driver's license. Then they mail you something to your local address within a few days and then you bring it back in and it will prove your address and they will issue you a card. It is a really large library and it seemed to be daytime warm housing for many of the homeless. There were actually people lying in the floor between isles and to get to look at certain racks you would have to stand up on them to reach things. It really was a turn off. They did however have a book sale and I picked up 3 paperbacks for 1.50.
Then headed back to the condo because I was starving and needed my smoothie. I also needed to rest for a bit. I am still not a morning person but it was now almost 3 in the afternoon. I decided to take some time talking with the kids and emails. As I was on the phone with my littlest one Prestin, the phone rang with an unavailable number... well since I did not know who it was, I did not put him on hold to answer it. Prestin did not have a good week at school and was in trouble so I was getting filled in on the subject. After that I made a call to my friend Cathy who lives in Tucson and we had a catch up session and are trying to plan some time to get together while I am here. I sent her my schedule and she is busy in her Masters program so it will take a bit of work but I am sure there will be a couple of days in there somewhere for sure.
Once finished with my phone calls and such it was time to start supper. That is when I thought about the phone call and decided to check the voice mail that was left for me. It was now 5:30 and Corinna was at the gym. Well the phone call was work asking if I could come in because they had a call out. First off, I did feel bad and I knew if I would have answered that call I would have had a hard time saying no, but on the other hand I had to look at it from another perspective. It takes an hour and a half to drive there. Then I would have to get showered, dressed and cook my meals before leaving then another hour and a half drive home the next morning and I had been up all day so far. That would also mean that I would get home and sleep and then have to head back the next day for seven shifts in a row and I still had to do laundry, pack and food shop and prepare it all. So needless to say there was no way I could do it. When Corinna came back home she had the same message on her phone. They must have found someone to work as I did not get another call.
I fixed supper and we decided to watch the other movie we got from the activity center and so "Sunshine Cleaning" was it. It was a pretty decent movie about two sisters who start a crime scene cleaning business. It was still snowing so we wrapped up in our blankets watched the new episode of Trauma and then we each retired off to our own beds at a mere 9:15 pm. Now anyone who knows me knows that 9 pm is like 9 am, but since I still am not 100 percent well and I had been up all day, I was kind of tired. I decided to try and take a sleeping pill too to make sure I got some decent sleep... so I start lying down and reading "Judge and Jury" by James Patterson. After an hour I have to put the book down and try and close my eyes.
So hopefully I will get some sleep....

Hope you're feeling better now! I didn't really care for Sunshine Cleaning that much.
